Temple Development Works Launched in Singarayakonda

Savitha announces Rs 45 crore BC school; ministers inaugurate civic works and inspect Gurukul.

Nellore: Andhra Pradesh BC welfare minister S. Savitha and social welfare Minister Dr Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy on Monday combined a temple visit with a series of development and education initiatives during their tour of Singarayakonda and Tanguturu in Prakasam district.

The ministers offered special prayers at the Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Old Singarayakonda, where they were accorded a traditional Purna Kumbham welcome by temple priests. They prayed for the health, prosperity and well-being of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Later, they inaugurated a Rs 68-lakh cement road in Old Singarayakonda, laid the foundation stone for a Rs 12-lakh drinking water pipeline for the ST Colony and inspected the site proposed for a BC residential school.

Addressing the gathering, Savitha announced that the government had sanctioned Rs 45 crore for the Singarayakonda BC residential school, reviving a long-pending project, with Rs 20 crore already released as the first instalment. She said another Rs 45-crore BC residential school had also been sanctioned for Kanigiri, reaffirming the government's commitment to improving rural infrastructure and expanding access to quality education.

Dola said the coalition government was giving equal importance to development and welfare, with nearly Rs 500 crore worth of works being implemented in the Kondepi constituency. He highlighted major welfare initiatives, including enhanced pensions, free LPG cylinders, investment support for farmers, financial assistance for students, free bus travel for women and persons with disabilities, and solar systems for SC and ST households.

Kanigiri MLA Mukku Ugra Narasimha Reddy said quality education was key to eradicating poverty, while Tourism Development Corporation chairman Nookasani Balaji called for establishing at least one BC residential school or college in every Assembly constituency.

The ministers later made a surprise inspection of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule BC Girls Gurukul School at Tanguturu. They reviewed classrooms, kitchen and hostel facilities, interacted with students and even spoke to parents over the school's telephone facility to assess student welfare.

Savitha announced an immediate grant of Rs 4 lakh for improving school facilities and said the foundation stone for the Singarayakonda BC Residential School would be laid shortly. Dola said two BC residential schools—one each for boys and girls—had been sanctioned for the Kondepi constituency and outlined plans to strengthen educational opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
