Temperatures Soar Past 40°C; Heatwave Alert Across State
Severe heatwaves are expected in 73 mandals, while 17 mandals may experience heatwave conditions: Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has warned of severe heatwave conditions likely to affect large parts of the state over the weekend.
Prakhar Jain said that on Saturday, severe heatwaves are expected in 73 mandals, while 17 mandals may experience heatwave conditions. On Sunday, 32 mandals are likely to face severe heatwaves and 21 mandals heatwave conditions.
He urged the public to take precautions against rising temperatures, especially women, children and the elderly.
According to an official statement, severe heatwave conditions on Saturday are forecast in 16 mandals of Srikakulam district, 24 in Vizianagaram, 15 in Parvathipuram Manyam, three in Alluri, nine in Polavaram, two in Anakapalli, three in Kakinada and one in East Godavari. Heatwave conditions are expected in two mandals of Srikakulam, two in Polavaram, one in Anakapalli, two in Kakinada, three in East Godavari, four in Eluru, one in NTR and two in Palnadu.
Jain advised people to stay hydrated and recommended consuming lemon water, buttermilk and adequate fluids to prevent dehydration.
On Friday, maximum temperatures crossed 40°C in 11 districts. The highest temperature of 41.8°C was recorded in Bhamini in Manyam district, followed by 41.4°C in Rayalapeta in Chittoor district.
Other notable readings included 40.9°C in Nathavaram (Anakapalli), 40.5°C in G. Sigadam (Srikakulam), 40.4°C in Alamuru (Nandyal) and Badvel (Kadapa), 40.3°C in Dharmajigudem (Eluru), Renigunta (Tirupati) and Rajam (Vizianagaram), 40.1°C in Kankipadu (Krishna), and 40°C in Thovi (Kurnool).
