Temperature Soars As Andhra Pradesh Faces 7-Degree Heat Spike

Visakhapatnam:Temperatures surged across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday due to a weak southwest monsoon, with several locations recording as much as 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
According to the IMD, Amaravati and Narasapur topped the charts at 39.6°C—7 degrees above average. Other hotspots included Tuni (38.5°C, +5.5°C), Kakinada (37.1°C, +4.3°C), Visakhapatnam (37°C, +4.2°C), and Nellore (39.4°C, +4.1°C).

The state is currently grappling with a 32 per cent rainfall deficit from June 1 to July 10, having received only 89.6 mm against a normal 131.2 mm. June alone saw a 31 per cent shortfall.
Rayalaseema has been hit hard, with an overall 38 per cent deficit. Five of its eight districts—Annamayya, Chittoor, Sri Sathya Sai, Tirupati, and Kadapa—have recorded between 46 and 70 per cent below-normal rainfall.
In coastal Andhra Pradesh, only four of the 18 districts—ASR, Anakapalle, East Godavari, and Eluru—registered normal or excess rainfall. The remaining 14, including Srikakulam, Nellore, Palnadu, Prakasam, NTR, Krishna, Guntur, and Bapatla, reported deficits ranging from 30 to 60 per cent.
