Vijayawada:Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan expressed his dissatisfaction with what he called “Telugu film industry's apparent lack of gratitude towards the state government.”

“The coalition government is marking its first anniversary. Have representatives of the film sector made any formal attempts to meet Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,” the Deputy CM asked.

Without naming anyone, he criticised film industry individuals for personally approaching government departments with requests.

“Moving forward, I will engage only with representatives of relevant sectors (not individuals),” Pawan Kalyan declared.

The popular actor said he has decided to accept return gifts given by some from the Telugu cinema industry. He expressed his gratitude for the return gift. He further said state government is planning to bring a special policy for development of the film sector.

“The matter will be discussed with the Chief Minister. Thereafter, a comprehensive film development policy will be announced,” the Deputy Chief Minister stated.

He disclosed that some discussions have already been held with the relevant departments on development of the film sector. These include exhibitors and distributors forming a group, amount spent by the audience on watching movies, and facilities that people watching films are provided.

Pawan Kalyan said among complaints frequently received by the government from audiences are the high prices of food and beverages in cinema halls and lack of proper water supply. Such issues need monitoring from time to time, he remarked.
