Telugu Desam, YSRC Men Clash In Tirupati

TIRUPATI: A clash by leaders of the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress here has left several persons injured and tensed up the political situation.
TD’s 1st division president Venkatesh (30) alias Dhoni was admitted to SVR Ruia government hospital with serious injuries late on Sunday night. Its SAAP chairman Ravi Naidu, Tirupati parliamentary region president Narasimha Yadav, deputy mayor Munikrishna and others visited the hospital to meet Venkatesh on Monday.
YSRC leaders Sai Kumar, Muni Lakshmi, A Shankar Reddy and A Sharada were also seriously injured.
According to TD leaders, YSRC’s Venkata Muni Reddy and his associates attacked Venkatesh Sunday night, using knives and chilli powder. They alleged it was a targeted attack.
YSRC leaders said this was a lie. They said TD workers attacked Venkata Muni Reddy and his family during a religious procession in Mittur. Muni Reddy and his wife were prevented from offering harati and were assaulted by a group of TD supporters. In the clash, several YSRC leaders were injured, they said.
YSRC Tirupati coordinator Bhumana Abhinay Reddy visited the injured party members and said the local police response was inadequate. The law and order situation in Tirupati has worsened under the present government, he said.
The police remained mum other than saying investigations were on.
