Telangana Launches Massive T-Fiber Push to Deliver High-Speed Internet to Every Village

One of the major highlights of the T-Fiber project is the implementation of a ring architecture network connecting every Gram Panchayat in the state: Reports

HYDERABAD: In a major step towards transforming Telangana into a digitally connected state, the government has decided to establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to roll out a high-speed fiber network across rural regions under the ambitious T-Fiber project.

The initiative, to be implemented under the Centre’s Amended BharatNet Program (ABP), aims to provide uninterrupted broadband connectivity to every village and household in Telangana.

The decision was finalized during a high-level video conference attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. During the meeting, Telangana signed a key agreement with the Central government, paving the way for the expansion of digital infrastructure across the state.

As part of the first phase, the government will restore and strengthen internet connectivity in 3,089 villages located in the erstwhile districts of Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy and Khammam, where existing network infrastructure has suffered damage. These villages will now be equipped with upgraded, future-ready fiber systems under the BharatNet initiative.

One of the major highlights of the T-Fiber project is the implementation of a ring architecture network connecting every Gram Panchayat in the state. The system is designed to ensure uninterrupted internet access by creating an alternative route for data traffic in case of cable damage or network disruption, thereby preventing downtime in rural areas.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy discussed Telangana’s digital roadmap with the Union Minister and sought the Centre’s support on several critical issues. These included speeding up implementation agreements, releasing pending central funds, utilizing the Digital Bharat Nidhi fund, and framing a clear policy for transferring network assets from Mandal to Gram Panchayat level.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia assured Telangana of the Centre’s full cooperation in resolving the pending issues and accelerating the project rollout.

Senior state officials, including Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B. Ajit Reddy, and IT Department Joint Secretary D. Anudeep, also participated in the meeting, highlighting the government’s focus on fast-tracking rural digitisation and building a truly connected Telangana.
