Telangana Governor Visits INS Himgiri, Submarine At Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on January 3 visited INS Himgiri, the indigenously built advanced stealth frigate of the Eastern Fleet, and a Kalvari-class submarine at Visakhapatnam, according to a release issued by the Eastern Naval Command on Sunday.

The visit highlighted the growing synergy between state leadership and the nation’s maritime defence forces, while showcasing India’s advances in naval engineering.

During the visit, the Governor was briefed on the platforms’ multi-mission capabilities, advanced stealth features and integrated combat systems used for maritime surveillance and operations across the full spectrum of modern naval warfare.

He was also apprised of the extensive use of indigenous technologies in the Indian Navy, reflecting India’s growing capabilities in the design and production of warships and submarines under the Aatmanirbharta initiative.

Concluding the visit, the Governor expressed appreciation for the role of the Eastern Naval Command and the Eastern Fleet in maintaining maritime security and safeguarding India’s strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
