Tekkali Gets ₹640 Crore For Drinking Water Projects

Visakhapatnam: Agriculture minister K. Atchannaidu on Sunday said the government had sanctioned `640 crore for drinking water projects in the Tekkali Assembly constituency, with foundation stones for the works to be laid after completion of the tender process on August 18.
Addressing a programme at NTR Bhavan in Kotabommali, Srikakulam district, the minister said the projects would provide safe piped drinking water from the Hiramandalam reservoir to every village and household within 18 months.
He described the initiative as a major step towards ensuring safe drinking water for every family and accelerating development in the constituency.

The minister also distributed Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) cheques worth Rs 22.83 lakh to 44 beneficiaries from four mandals. He said 557 applications had been received from the Tekkali constituency, of which 441 beneficiaries had been sanctioned assistance totalling ₹4.83 crore. The remaining applications were under scrutiny and would be processed soon, he added.
Atchannaidu said around 80 per cent of rural road works in the constituency had been completed and another ₹350 crore had been sanctioned to complete the remaining works.
