VISAKHAPATNAM: A 15-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide following a dispute with her mother over buying an costly phone at Dharmanagar under Kancharapalem police station limits in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
Police said the Class 9 student had been asking her mother to buy her an high-end phone for the past few days, leading to frequent arguments. Her mother, a daily wage worker, reportedly told her that she could not afford the expensive phone.
The girl, who lived with her mother and brother after her parents separated due to personal differences, later went into her room and locked the door. She was found dead by hanging, police said.
A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.
