Technology helps resolve difficult issues: T.G. Bharath

T.G. Bharath criticised the previous government for issuing a nominal GO for a water treatment plant in Kallur without budgeting

Kurnool: Industries and commerce minister T.G. Bharath noted that advanced technology can quickly solve complex issues as society progresses. On Monday, he laid the foundation for development projects totaling Rs.28.12 crore in Kurnool city.

Joined by collector Ranjith Basha, mayor B.Y. Ramaiah, Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy, and commissioner S. Ravindra Babu, the minister inaugurated several projects. These included a Rs.4.62 crore water management monitoring system at the Ashok Nagar Water Treatment Centre, three cleaning vehicles and two electric garbage collection vehicles worth Rs.1.50 crore under the Swachha Andhra Corporation. Additionally, he laid the foundation for a Rs.22-crore 12 MLD water treatment plant, sump and pumping station at Pucchalapalli Sundaraiah Park in Weaker Section Colony, aimed at improving the drinking water supply in Kallur and surrounding areas.

The minister highlighted that the government had been working for eight months to resolve long-standing city issues. He criticised the previous government for issuing a nominal GO for a water treatment plant in Kallur without budgeting. He averred that had the previous government acted sincerely, the project would have been completed by now.

Despite Kurnool being surrounded by rivers, many newly developed colonies face water shortages. The minister credited Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for initiating and securing Rs.22 crore for the project, despite financial constraints. He also emphasised the implementation of the SCADA system, similar to Vijayawada's, for continuous water supply monitoring.

Collector Ranjith Basha assured that the drinking water supply would be prioritised and the issue would be resolved before summer. Mayor Ramaiah noted that the SCADA system would improve water management and reduce wastage.

Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy stated that after the coalition government assumed office, the Rs.22 crore worth project will supply water to the Indian Institute of Information Technology –Design and Manufacturing (IIIT DM) and Kallur wards. Commissioner Ravindra Babu explained that the 12-MLD water treatment plant would supply 5 MLD to IIIT-DM and 7 MLD to areas like Peddapadu, L. Peta, Weaker Section Colony, Muzaffarnagar, Abbasnagar and Krishnanagar.

While the project was initially slated for completion in 18 months, efforts are underway to complete it within six months. Necessary equipment, including pipes and machinery, has already been procured. Deputy mayor Siddha Reddy Renuka, corporators and other officials attended the events.
