Techie's Suicide Sparks Protest at Boyfriend's House in Prakasam

They said she informed her parents about the developments before allegedly ending her life in Mumbai on July 14.

Nellore:A 26-year-old software engineer from Guntur district died allegedly by suicide after learning that her longtime boyfriend had become engaged to another woman, triggering protests by her family outside his residence in Prakasam district.

The deceased, Addagalla Keerthi of Kondrupadu village, had reportedly been in an eight-year relationship with Papineni Sai of Ponduru village in Tangutur mandal. While Keerthi worked for an IT firm in Mumbai, Sai was employed in Dubai. According to her family, the two met through social media and had planned to marry.

Her family alleged that Sai became engaged to another woman without informing Keerthi, leaving her distressed. They said she informed her parents about the developments before allegedly ending her life in Mumbai on July 14.

Police said a purported suicide note was recovered in which Keerthi allegedly expressed her wish that Sai perform her last rites and tie a ‘mangalsutra’ to her body.

After bringing her body to Ponduru, Keerthi’s parents and relatives staged a protest outside Sai’s house, accusing him of betraying her and driving her to suicide. They also erected condolence flex banners bearing his name and demanded that her final wish be fulfilled.

According to the family, Sai’s house was locked by the time they arrived. Protesters allegedly broke open the gate and placed Keerthi’s body inside the house premises before continuing their agitation.

Police reached the spot, brought the situation under control and registered a case. Officials said an investigation is underway into the allegations and the circumstances leading to Keerthi’s death.
