TD Names JB Srinivas For Tirupati Mayor Post
Jana Sena has been allotted Puttur municipality in Tirupati district, while the BJP has not secured a Mayor or chairperson post in the urban local bodies of the erstwhile Chittoor district.

Tirupati:The Telugu Desam has finalised JB Srinivas as its candidate for the Tirupati Mayor post, ending days of uncertainty over allocation of the post among the alliance partners and the selection of a nominee.
Srinivas, a senior TD leader who functioned as the party's Tirupati town president since July, has emerged as the party's choice for the prestigious post. Several leaders and their family members were lobbying for the ticket.
The mayor post had been the subject of discussions among alliance partners over the past few days, with both the Jana Sena and the BJP seen as possible contenders. TD leaders eventually convinced the party leadership to retain the post, pointing out that the Jana Sena already represents the Tirupati assembly constituency.
The decision brought relief to TD cadres, who were concerned that the party might lose the opportunity to contest the mayoral election after conceding the assembly seat to Jana Sena.
According to party sources, differences also emerged within the TD over the selection of its candidate. Some Yadava leaders reportedly opposed the proposed choice and warned that they would not cooperate if their demand was ignored. The issue was taken to senior party leaders, following which Srinivas's name was finalised.
Srinivas said his priorities would include improving civic facilities, addressing public grievances and ensuring transparent administration. He would identify problems faced by residents in different wards and coordinate with officials to resolve them. His priorities would include sustainable urban development and ensuring that government welfare and development programmes reach the people effectively.
Meanwhile, under the seat sharing arrangement, TD has also secured the Chittoor mayor post and the chairperson posts in Nagari, Kuppam and Palamaner municipalities. In Annamayya district, the party would contest the chairperson posts in Rayachoti, B Kothakota, Madanapalle and Punganur.
