TD MLA Prashanthi Reddy Receives Threat Letter In Nellore, Police Launch Probe

Nellore:Kovur MLA and TD leader Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy has reportedly received a threat letter demanding Rs 2 crore, with a warning that she would be killed if the money was not paid.
The incident took place on August 17, when a masked man approached the residence of Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, handed over a letter to the security staff and left immediately.
The letter, later opened by the MLA’s office staff, contained direct extortion threats against Prashanthi Reddy. A complaint was subsequently lodged with the police.
Following the complaint, police registered a case and began investigation. Security personnel at the residence have been questioned and the CCTV footage from the premises and surrounding areas is being examined to trace the suspect’s movements.
Confirming the development, a senior police officer said the MLA has received a threat letter and they were investigating the matter. He said the details would be revealed soon.
Investigators suspect that the man who delivered the letter may be a resident of Isukapalem village in Alluru mandal. He has reportedly been taken into custody for questioning.
In addition, another person found moving suspiciously near the MLA’s residence was detained. As his statements were said to be of dubious nature, police shifted him to the station for further interrogation. Four mobile phones were also seized from him.
Police officials said the probe is being carried out in a confidential manner, even as the incident has become a subject of widespread local discussion, given the seriousness of the threats against the legislator.
