TD Hits Back at YSRC Over Waste Management Allegations

Nellore:Nellore deputy mayor P. Roop Kumar Yadav has strongly rebutted the allegations levelled by YSR Congress MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy over alleged irregularities in the state's waste management programme, terming them baseless and politically motivated.
Roop Kumar Yadav spoke to media on Sunday evening at the Allipuram dumping yard, saying he wants to show the practical demonstration of what is happening on the ground under the TD-led government.
The deputy mayor alleged that the YSR Congress is making false claims merely to remain politically relevant. He asserted that the government has undertaken removal of 1.58 crore tonnes of waste from 123 municipalities and had completed nearly 92 per cent of the work.

Roop Kumar Yadav said the work is being carried out transparently through reputed agencies. He questioned the YSRC's criticism, alleging that not a single waste-to-energy plant had been commissioned during its 2019–24 tenure. He maintained that the coalition government is now expediting construction of plants in five major cities, including Nellore.
On education, the deputy mayor accused YSRC of spreading misinformation about VRC School. He asserted that 15 corporation schools in Nellore are being upgraded to corporate standards with the initiative of Municipal Administration minister P. Narayana. In this regard, he announced that the renovated RSR School, rebuilt with the help of VPR Foundation, will be reopened by Education minister Nara Lokesh on September 16.
The deputy mayor announced plans to develop an adventure park on the 6.7-acre site cleared at the Allipuram dumping yard for the benefit of Nellore residents. He asked YSRC leaders to contact him if they want any clarification on waste management works.
