TD Coalition Government to Distribute Lands to BPL Families

It has been identified that many of house sites allocated by the previous YSRC government are located besides tanks and canals that could pose a threat of submergence. A few other sites were also found to be near cremation grounds

Vijayawada: The TD-Jana Sena-BJP coalition government has brought cheers to the poor in the state. The government assured the poor of allocation of house sites to the below poverty line (BPL) community.

The government announced that poor living in villages will get 3 cents and those in urban areas would get 2 cents free.

A decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet meeting, said Andhra Pradesh State Housing, Information minister Parthasarathy.

It has been identified that many of house sites allocated by the previous YSRC government are located besides tanks and canals that could pose a threat of submergence. A few other sites were also found to be near cremation grounds.

The minister informed that in the wake of the submergence threat and the ominous environment, several beneficiaries did not construct their houses in the allocated sites.

The NDA government has decided to cancel allocations done by the YSRC government and issue new house site pattas. A few people had already built houses in a few colonies. The allotment orders of those beneficiaries will be cancelled and new pattas will be issued.

A few other beneficiaries have not been shown house sites despite allocation while a few other sites are tangled in legal hassles. All those beneficiaries who received such disputed lands will get new house site pattas, the minister clarified. The allocation of disputed lands will be cancelled.

Families possessing 5 acres or below barren land or 2.5 acre of cultivable land are eligible for the scheme, the minister said.

Basic infrastructure in these colonies would be provided with aid from Central government schemes. The distribution of the house sites would be monitored by committees formed under the leadership of revenue minister at the state-level and in-charge minister at the district-level.

The minister also informed that the poor who had built houses before October 15, 2019, on encroached government lands but have remained undisputed since then would be regularized.

Applications for regularization of Urban Land Ceiling lands will be accepted under GO No. 84.

The YSRC government had removed several lands from the prohibited list of 22A, including patta lands and Inam lands, totaling to 13.59 lakh acres.

Of this, 13.57 lakh acres has been examined by the government. It was found that some people had taken advantage of the Free Hold decision and encroached the lands.

During the re-survey taken up under the YSRC rule, there had been several irregularities in the process, the minister informed.
