VIJAYAWADA: Reiterating that employees’ welfare remained its “hope and heartbeat”, the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association (APNGGO) on Saturday pledged to continue sustained efforts for the benefit of employees, teachers and pensioners across the state.

Addressing a large gathering after the unanimous election of the APNGGO NTR district executive, APNGGO state president A. Vidyasagar said the collective strength of lakhs of employees drove the association’s actions. The elections were held at the APNGO Home in Gandhinagar following a rally from the Old Bus Stand that saw a heavy turnout of employees from across the district.

Vidyasagar said that in its 75-year history, APNGGO had played a key role in securing several facilities now enjoyed by employees. He said negotiations with the government over the past eight months alone had resulted in benefits worth nearly Rs13,000 crore.

State general secretary D. V. Ramana said the NTR district unit held a special place in the association, having produced several prominent leaders. He added that elections were being conducted in a democratic manner, with state-level notifications expected next month.
