Take Agri Expo Technology to Every Farmer: Collector
Farmers also showed keen interest in modern farm machinery and equipment

Nellore: District collector Himanshu Shukla has called for taking modern agricultural technology and scientific farming practices showcased at the Agri Expo and Kisan Mela-2026 to every farmer at the field level to help increase farm incomes.
Visiting the expo at A.C. Subba Reddy Stadium on Wednesday, the collector inspected stalls displaying agricultural machinery, drones, seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other modern technologies. He interacted with farmers, scientists and progressive farmers and stressed that the technology showcased at the expo should translate into actual benefits on farms rather than remain limited to demonstrations.
Around 1,000 farmers from across the district attended the expo, which provided information on farm mechanisation, crop health, water management, allied sectors and government schemes.
Scientists advised farmers to consider alternative, less water-intensive crops such as millets and pulses in view of weather conditions and the possible impact of El NiƱo. They also stressed efficient water management, soil testing and proper use of crop residues.
Officials explained schemes relating to crop insurance, PM-KISAN, Annadata Sukhibhava, farm mechanisation, drones, micro-irrigation and horticulture. Farmers also showed keen interest in modern farm machinery and equipment.
Officials urged farmers to explore allied activities such as dairy, horticulture, oil palm, food processing and machinery rental centres to supplement their income. ZP chairperson Anam Arunamma and municipal chairperson Devarakonda Sujatha also called upon farmers and youth to adopt modern technology and explore agriculture as a viable livelihood.
