Police deploy additional forces in Tadipatri as YSRC–TDP leaders trade challenges over Rayalaseema irrigation projects
ANANTAPUR: A tense situation is prevailing in the Tadipatri town of Anantapur district on Friday amid challenges and counter challenges between YSRC in-charge and former MLA Kethireddy Peddareddy and Tadipatri former MLA and municipal chairman J.C. Prabhakar Reddy over the Rayalaseema irrigation projects.
A couple of days ago, Peddareddy threw a challenge for an open debate over Rayalaseema irrigation projects at any place like Kurnool Kondareddy Buruju, Kadapa Kotireddy Circle, or Anantapur Tower Clock. He underlined that Rayalaseema's pride should not be underestimated and YSRC government had taken all necessary measures to develop and strengthen the irrigation facilities in the Rayalaseema region.
Countering this, TD leader Prabhakar Reddy accused the previous government of failing to maintain even the existing projects. His followers went on to declare that in protest, they would protest in front of the Peddareddy’s house in Tadipatri on Friday.
This built up tension in Tadipatri and police deployed additional forces in the town at several sensitive locations, including the houses of Peddareddy and Prabhakar Reddy. As a precautionary measure, police teams cleared all stones dumped in various areas for pelting on the rivals.
Police have registered three cases against the YSRC leader at Tadipatri and Anantapur police stations for making provocative statements.
