SV Vedic University Recognised As IKS Research Centre
SVVU to study Vedas, Vedanga, Vedanta in the modern context with IKS support

Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU), Tirupati, has been recognised by the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) division of the Ministry of Education as one of the eight higher education institutions in the country selected to function as an IKS Research Centre.
With this recognition, the centre will receive dedicated funding to pursue research in focus areas such as speech and linguistics and edutainment, aimed at studying and presenting the relevance of the Vedas, Vedanga and Vedanta in a contemporary framework. University officials said the recognition is also a first step towards SVVU being considered for Centre of Excellence status in the future.
The proposal for the centre had been prepared and submitted by Prof. Dr A. Venkata Radhe Shyam, dean of the faculty of research. It was reviewed by an expert committee, which held detailed interactions before recommending SVVU for the recognition. Dr M.V.N. Pavan Kumar Sharma, dean of the faculty of Paurohitya, has been appointed co-principal investigator of the project.
Prof. Radhe Shyam had earlier successfully completed a project supported by the IKS division, which earned appreciation at the national level. The present recognition builds on that work and provides SVVU a platform to expand its research footprint.
Congratulating the team, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty said, “I congratulate Prof. Radhe Shyam and Dr. Pavan Kumar Sharma for their efforts. With this recognition, SVVU joins a select group of institutions tasked with contributing to the national initiative of linking India’s traditional knowledge with present-day research and education.”
