SV University Launches Workshop on Research Ethics

Three-day programme trains scholars in ethical research

Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) on Wednesday launched a three-day workshop on 'Research Ethics and Plagiarism Tools' to promote ethical research practices and create awareness about plagiarism among research scholars and students.

Inaugurating the programme at the SVU Senate Hall, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tata Narasinga Rao said research carried out with honesty, ethics and academic integrity would earn lasting recognition. He advised scholars to use artificial intelligence only as a supporting tool and rely on their own analytical and intellectual abilities.

Referring to China's emphasis on basic research, he said sustained investment in research had contributed significantly to the country's development and public welfare.

Registrar Prof. Bhupathi Naidu said the university was committed to strengthening research by improving infrastructure and academic support. He said research projects had been sanctioned under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) to encourage quality research and innovation.

Scientist Dr K. Manoj Kumar of the INFLIBNET Centre explained the use of Shodhganga, the national repository of theses and dissertations, to help scholars identify research gaps and avoid duplication. He also highlighted Shodh Sindhu, which provides access to national and international journals, e-books and other academic resources, and demonstrated plagiarism detection tools used to assess the originality of research manuscripts before submission.

Workshop coordinator Prof. K. Surendra Babu said the programme would cover 12 sessions on research methodology, ethics, plagiarism prevention and digital research resources. Experts from across the country are participating in the workshop, which has drawn research scholars and students from different regions.
