TIRUPATI: A Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) professor, who had been under suspension on disciplinary grounds and missing for the past few days, was found dead inside a parked car near Alipiri in Tirupati on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Dr V. Sardar Gugloth, a professor in the College of Commerce, Management and Computer Science at SVU. Sources said he was suspended about three months ago following complaints of irregular attendance and other disciplinary issues.
Police said local residents alerted them after noticing a foul smell emanating from a car parked near Alipiri. Tirupati West police reached the spot and found the body of a middle-aged man inside the vehicle.
The body, which was in a decomposed condition, was shifted to SVR Ruia Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is under way to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police officials said the exact cause of death would be known after the post-mortem report, though preliminary assessment suggests the death may have occurred several days earlier.
Dr Gugloth is survived by his wife, Meena Bhai, a school assistant at a government Zilla Parishad high school in Chittoor, and two daughters aged 15 and 12.
