Surface Circulation to Bring Rain to Coastal Andhra
A cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring light to moderate rain and gusty winds across Coastal Andhra on Tuesday.
A surface cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to bring light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds across parts of the state on Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) managing director Prakhar Jain said on Monday.
He said a trough extending from the cyclonic circulation is expected to keep skies cloudy, with light to moderate rain forecast in several districts. Gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are also likely over Coastal Andhra, and authorities have advised people to remain alert.
According to the forecast, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Eluru (Polavaram area), Krishna and NTR districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated places. Light rain is expected at a few places in the remaining districts.
During the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday, Yelamanchili recorded the highest rainfall at 6.6 cm, followed by Penjeruvu (4.2 cm), Somalingapalem (4 cm), Palakonda in Parvathipuram Manyam district (3.6 cm) and Kanamam in Visakhapatnam district (3.5 cm).
