Super Pressure Balloon Will Help Provide Help To Affected During Disasters: Rammohan Naidu

There are several such projects underway in the state. He hoped that projects like Aerospace Defence System and Sriharikota Space City would help in development of the state

Union Civil Aviation minister K. Rammohan Naidu said that Andhra Pradesh was making several innovations based on space technology.

The minister participated in the unveiling of India's first indigenous stratospheric Super Pressure Balloon (SPB) at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Vijayawada. Vijayawada-based startup Red Balloon Aerospace launched the Super Pressure Balloon successfully.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union minister said that the balloon would travel 25 km into the air from earth. There are several such projects underway in the state. He hoped that projects like Aerospace Defence System and Sriharikota Space City would help in development of the state.

He congratulated Red Balloon Aerospace founders Kiran and Sirish.

Kiran said that the AP state government's assistance helped them make the launch, called Mission SANA. The launch successfully carried payloads from seven national and international partners. This milestone places India among an elite group of just five nations -- US, France, Japan, and China, capable of deploying indigenous stratospheric hydrogen balloon technology.

This technology would help provide help to those stuck in any disasters, within just two hours. It will help in providing many benefits in villages sans network, he said.

Co-founder Sirish said that SPB would help in weather research, supervision of earth, collecting information on disasters at a much cheaper price than the launch of satellites.

The SPB has been designed to remain suspended in the air for 24 hours. In the future, SPBs would be designed that can remain suspended in air for months, he said.

Roudranex Space Technologies co-founder and CEO Prakash Navadeep, MPs Kesineni Sivanadh, Lavu Srikrishna Devarayulu and others were present.
