Strict Enforcement Of Election Code Stressed In Nellore
Permissions mandatory for campaign activities: Joint Collector
Nellore:The electoral authority for the Nellore Municipal Corporation Mayor election has urged representatives of all political parties to cooperate with the authorities in strictly enforcing the Model Code of Conduct.
Addressing a meeting with political party representatives and election staff at the Command Control Centre on Sunday joint collector Venkateswarlu as returning officer said prior permission was mandatory for all election campaign activities.
Display of political hoardings, flex boards and other campaign material without permission would not be permitted. Legal action would be taken against those indulging in voter inducement, intimidation or violations of election rules.
The officials explained the EC guidelines concerning the use of loudspeakers, setting up temporary party offices, door-to-door campaigning, rallies, distribution of pamphlets, display of flags and banners, campaign vehicles and maintenance of election expenditure records. He also clarified doubts raised by party representatives. Municipal commissioner YO Nandan was also present.
