Storms to Continue over Parts of AP till April 26

People experiencing unique weather system in ASR district

Visakhapatnam: People of Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district have been experiencing a unique weather system for the past seven days.

Dawn breaks with dense fog that lasts till 9 a.m. Thereafter sun comes overhead leading to hot conditions. Around 2 p.m., thundershowers lash the valley. The rain lasts a few minutes, but brings down the heat, leading to pleasant evenings.

“Nights are cold and elderly people need blankets for warmth,” Raja Babu, a grocer, pointed out.

Regional Agriculture Research Station assistant director Alla Appalaswamy Babu says thick fog envelops Lambasingi and surrounding areas, making it difficult for commuters to travel on ghat roads.

“Lambasingi, Chintapalle and other villages across the valley received good rains around Tuesday noon. We did not feel the summer heat today,” shared Appalaswamy Babu. He said this weather has been prevailing for the past 10 days.

IMD Amaravati has forecast thundershowers in plain areas of north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Yanam. A report on Tuesday said storms, accompanied by gusty winds with speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph, would continue till April 26.

Thereafter, the weather will turn hot and humid. For a week, the temperature will gradually rise by two to three degrees in most parts of the state, the weather report stated.
