Steps underway to solve civic issues: Minister Bharath
TG Bharat said special focus is being placed on sanitation

Kurnool: Industries minister T.G. Bharath said steps are being taken to address public issues in the city based on priority and that infrastructure development works were progressing rapidly.
On Monday, the minister conducted a review meeting on urban development along with municipal commissioner S. Ravindra Babu with officials from all departments at the state government guesthouse.
The minister said special focus is being placed on sanitation. An action plan has been put in place to ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply during summer. He said measures are being taken to prevent any inconvenience to the public.
The minister directed officials to speed up development works in the city and stressed that the construction of roads aimed at easing traffic congestion should not be delayed. He instructed officials to expedite work on the Bund Road along the Handri river near Raj Vihar junction, the curve at the Medical College and the proposed bypass road near the second police battalion premises.
He also ordered the removal of street carts which have been causing traffic problems and occupying roads near the old bus stand, government hospital and Vinayak Ghat.
The minister suggested development of the Kids World intersection, strict maintenance of the SCADA system and painting of speed breakers to improve visibility for motorists. He instructed that drinking water supply should be scheduled during daytime as much as possible, including suburban areas. He said there should be no complaints regarding the water supply.
He also called for proposals for park development and stressed on speedy completion of works related to roads, side drains and toilets. He emphasised accelerating desilting efforts, resolving sanitation issues and action to control the stray dog population. The minister instructed proper maintenance of the 107 open toilets in the city.
Later, the minister distributed wheelchairs to differently-abled people under the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) scheme. He announced that Andhra Pradesh’s first Skin Centre is being established in Kurnool by the Indian Red Cross Society.
Kurnool MP B. Nagaraju noted that the Red Cross Society has been supporting public health by conducting field-level medical camps and supplying blood to accident victims through its blood bank.
District collector P. Ranjit Basha, Indian Red Cross state chairman Dr Govinda Reddy, vice-chairman Dr Mahendra Kumar and other officials participated in the programme.
