Kurnool: The Srisailam reservoir is currently receiving steady inflows of 1.60 lakh cusecs and releasing 1.70 lakh cusecs downstream towards Nagarjunasagar as of 7 pm on Thursday, according to dam officials.
At present, the project is getting 29,220 cusecs of inflow from Jurala, 79,740 cusecs from the spillway and 51,883 cusecs from Handri. To manage the water levels, officials have lifted three radial gates up to 10 feet to discharge excess water.
Of the total 1.7 lakh cusecs being released, 20,000 cusecs are being diverted to the Pothireddypadu head regulator, while 21,600 cusecs are being supplied to the regional canal system. Additionally, 67,552 cusecs are being utilised for power generation — 32,237 cusecs through the right powerhouse and 35,315 cusecs through the left one.
The project was witnessing a consistent rise in inflows due to rains in the upper reaches and the dam authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure smooth water management and power generation.
