Visakhapatnam: Minister of civil supplies Nadendla Manohar revealed that the government was investing approximately Rs 14,000 crore each year in the education sector.
Speaking at the Mega Parent-Teacher Day meeting held in Narsipuram, Parvatipuram mandal, he emphasised the importance of this investment for securing a brighter future for children.
In his address, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and facilities in government schools, noting that dedicated teachers play a crucial role in nurturing responsible citizens. He called for parents to encourage their children to engage in sports and environmental activities while steering them away from negative influences like drugs.
Additionally, he proposed the adoption of the “Bala Panchayat” concept in schools to instill civic responsibilities among students.
Parvathipuram MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra praised the initiative of holding Parent-Teacher meetings, emphasising that students should aspire to achieve their goals and consider establishing local institutions. He expressed his support for children from single-parent families, reinforcing the community's commitment to inclusive education.
District collector A. Shyam Prasad has reported that there are approximately 1,590 schools in the district serving over 95,000 students. He introduced the “My School, My Pride” programme aimed at counselling and guiding students towards better educational outcomes.
