State Erupts in Celebrations as Amaravati Gets Legal Status

Vijayawada:Celebrations swept across Andhra Pradesh on Thursday after Parliament granted legal status to Amaravati as the state’s sole permanent capital, marking a decisive moment in its post-bifurcation history.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led the celebrations in Amaravati, where ministers, public representatives, officials and citizens participated in large numbers, reflecting widespread enthusiasm.
From villages to cities, people took to the streets in jubilation. Women decorated their homes with rangoli and lit lamps, while youth organised rallies and bike processions. Students marked the occasion with cake-cutting and cultural programmes.
Across districts, celebrations were held with fervour. In Anantapur, a “Jai Ho Amaravati” rally was organised, while Tirupati saw special events in educational institutions. In Bapatla, officials and students marked the occasion with slogans and gatherings, and government offices in YSR Kadapa were illuminated.
In NTR district, fireworks lit up the skies as Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy led bike rallies in Nuzvid. Visakhapatnam witnessed candlelight rallies, while in Anakapalli, District Collector Vijay Krishnan led symbolic celebrations.
Ongole in Prakasam district hosted a candle rally attended by ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy. In Vizianagaram, Minister Kondapalli Srinivas termed the decision a victory for the self-respect of Andhra people and a recognition of farmers’ prolonged struggle.
In Nellore district, rallies and processions were organised across towns, with slogans of “Jai Amaravati” echoing through the streets. A major rally was held from VRC Centre to the Gandhi statue, while women under the aegis of MEPMA lit lamps and drew rangoli at Mypad Gate Smart Street Bazaar.
Participants thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, calling the decision a proud moment for Telugu people and a new chapter in the state’s development.
Citizens expressed hope that the move would boost investment, create employment and accelerate overall development.
