ST Commission Chairman Urges Swift Action Against Rising Tribal Fever Cases

State ST Commission flags alarming rise in fever cases among tribal populations in Manyam and ASR districts; calls for urgent preventive action.

Visakhapatnam: Dr D.V.G. Shankara Rao, the chairman of the State ST Commission, has expressed serious concerns about a rise in fever cases among tribal communities in the Manyam and ASR districts. He highlighted significant outbreaks in the Parvathipuram, Manyam, and ASR districts, particularly in the Gummalakshmipuram, Saluru, and Kurupantha areas of the Manyam district. During recent field visits, he observed many tribal residents suffering from high fevers.

Dr Shankara Rao emphasised the urgent need for preventive measures at the village level to control the spread of seasonal diseases. He noted the importance of improving drinking water quality and sanitation. Additionally, he recommended organising medical camps to provide timely treatment. ITDA officials have been instructed to collect health data regularly and respond swiftly to emerging health issues. District collectors and ITDA representatives were urged to prioritise the health needs of residents, especially in areas with limited access to medical facilities, ensuring that effective interventions are implemented immediately.
