VIJAYAWADA: Telugu monthly magazine Sreevani marked the release of its 500th edition on Saturday, with Odisha Governor Dr Kambhampati Haribabu praising its uninterrupted journey and contribution to preserving moral values, Indian cultural traditions and the Telugu language.

Addressing the celebrations at Thummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram, Dr Haribabu said Sreevani had upheld the principle that “times may change, but values should not change”. He praised Komaragiri Chandrasekhar and editor-in-chief Komaragiri Shyam Prasad, sons of founder-president late Komaragiri Krishnamohan Rao, for carrying forward his ideals despite several challenges.

He also recalled Rao’s role in establishing Balaji Vidyalayam at Machilipatnam.

Minister Kollu Ravindra described the 500th edition as a matter of pride and praised Balaji Vidyalayam for providing quality education to poor students.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) said value-based magazines remained important in the internet age and recalled the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations’ services to more than 6,000 people during the Vijayawada floods.

Spiritual scholar Mallapragada Srimannarayana Murthy described Sreevani as “the heartbeat of Bharat”. APSRTC chairman Konakalla Narayana recalled the Komaragiri family’s long association with his family and Krishnamohan Rao’s role in the Andhra movement.

AP BJP president P.V.N. Madhav said the special edition on freedom fighters would inspire patriotism.

Justice Ramana released the 500th edition, Dr Haribabu released the book Merunagari Himagiri Komaragiri, and Madhav released the Sreevani Pancha Shata Sanchika Geethamalika CD. A documentary and photo exhibition were also held, along with a felicitation of authors.
