SRC Leaders Say Jagan’s Nellore Visit Successful Despite Heavy Restrictions

TIRUPATI: YSRC leaders from Nellore district have declared that their party chief and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Nellore has been successful despite efforts of the ruling parties to undermine it using police.
Addressing a press conference at the district police office in Nellore on Friday, Nellore YSRC president and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, former MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, and leaders Anam Vijayakumar Reddy, Meraga Murali, and Kakani Poojitha asserted that thousands of party supporters turned out in large numbers, making it clear that people continue to stand with Jagan Mohan Reddy.
This happened despite the alliance government resorting to unprecedented measures to block the event, including erecting barricades, digging up roads with JCBs and using police to prevent people from coming in large numbers. “Yet, people walked miles to join the rally.
“This is the strength of Jagan’s bond with the public”, the YSRC leaders maintained. Kakani Poojitha, daughter of former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, likened thousands arriving voluntarily for Jagan’s meeting to a referendum on the YSRC chief’s popularity.
State machinery misused, says Anil Yadav Separately, former minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav accused the TDP-led coalition government of stooping to undemocratic levels to obstruct former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Nellore. Addressing media, he said the state government deployed over 2,000 police personnel not to protect the Z+ category opposition leader, but to block his supporters from visiting him. “The ruling coalition has panicked, as people are with Jagan Mohan Reddy,” Anil Kumar maintained.
