Spirituality, Yoga Essential for Stress-Free Life, Underlines CM Naidu

He observed that technology and spirituality should progress together for the holistic development of society.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said spirituality and yoga play a crucial role in helping people lead balanced and stress-free lives. He maintained that the two are the elements of India’s rich cultural heritage and must be preserved and passed on to future generations.

Participating in a special yoga session led by yoga guru Baba Ramdev at the historic Undavalli Caves as part of the state government’s Yogandhra programme, the AP CM said India’s values and traditions have elevated the country to the position of a global spiritual leader. He observed that technology and spirituality should progress together for the holistic development of society.

Wearing a Yogandhra-themed shirt, Naidu watched yoga demonstrations by youngsters under the guidance of Baba Ramdev, who explained and showcased several advanced asanas before the large gathering.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised Baba Ramdev for taking yoga to the masses and inspiring thousands of people to adopt healthy lifestyles. He underlined that while technology has transformed modern life, spirituality and yoga can help maintain the right balance and ensure a stress-free life.

Highlighting the significance of the venue, Naidu pointed out that Undavalli Caves date back to the sixth and seventh centuries, possess immense historical and spiritual importance, and are home to Lord Padmanabha. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for securing global recognition for yoga, noting that nearly 190 countries are now observing the International Yoga Day.

The CM announced that yoga and pranayama would be integrated into the government’s Sanjeevani health programme, which focuses on disease prevention rather than treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Baba Ramdev described Naidu as a “Yogi and Karma Yogi” dedicated to nature, culture, yoga and humanity. Subsequently, the yoga guru participated in the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at Dr. Manthena Satyanarayana Raju Arogyalayam in Amaravati.

Baba Ramdev, who arrived from Patanjali Yogpeeth as the chief guest for Andhra Pradesh’s International Yoga Day 2026 celebrations, led the yoga session amid the serene natural surroundings on the banks of the Krishna River, drawing around 750 participants. The yoga guru personally demonstrated various yoga postures and pranayama techniques.

Addressing the participants, Baba Ramdev underlined that yoga helps slow down ageing process, promotes physical fitness, enhances mental well-being, and fosters spiritual growth. He emphasised that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a complete way of life that should become an integral part of every individual’s daily routine.

A major attraction on the occasion had been the performance by 50 young students from Patanjali Yogpeeth, who showcased advanced yoga techniques and power yoga demonstrations, earning applause from the audience.

Later, Dr. Manthena Satyanarayana Raju and Dr. Vishala felicitated Baba Ramdev.

Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav and senior officials attended the programme.
