Speed Up The Land Acquisition For Metro Rail: Collector

At a meeting held in his office on Saturday, the collector reviewed the land acquisition to be undertaken for the Metro Rail, normal railway line, issuance of notifications and other issues.

Visakhapatnam:District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad has directed the officials to further speed up the land acquisition process for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project, expansion of normal railway lines and other works to be undertaken within the district.

At a meeting held in his office on Saturday, the collector reviewed the land acquisition to be undertaken for the Metro Rail, normal railway line, issuance of notifications and other issues.

Discussing the land acquisition process related to the works to be undertaken in the three corridors as part of the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project Phase-1, the collector issued guidelines on various issues to the concerned officials. He instructed the revenue officials to expedite the process of Form-2 notifications and submit the reports within the stipulated time. He suggested that they focus on the social survey to be conducted regarding the rehabilitation and reconstruction plan of the affected families within the project area. He suggested to proceed strategically with the acquisition of 9 acres 22 cents of private land suitable for structural needs.

In another meeting, the collector said that the master plan roads to be taken up under the VMRDA should be mapped quickly and all related technical processes should be completed and moved forward. He suggested that the land acquisition, tenders and issuance of TDRs should be conducted transparently in accordance with the rules. He said that work should be undertaken keeping in mind the future needs and steps should be taken in a planned manner.

He held a special meeting with VMRDA Commissioner KS Vishwanathan, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, NHAI PD Prabhakar, R&B SE and other officials and said as a part of the master plan, 25 new roads would be laid connecting Anakapalle, Vizianagaram, old and new national highways and the beach corridor.
