Speed of Doing Business Defines AP, Says ReNew CEO Sumant Sinha

Visakhapatnam:ReNew Energy Global founder, chairman and CEO Sumant Sinha has praised Andhra Pradesh for delivering not only ease of doing business but also speed of doing business.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sumant Sinha said the company’s ₹5,400 crore investment in Anakapalli district had progressed rapidly, with the groundbreaking completed within five months of signing the MoU and project completion targeted within two years.
He said timely clearances and availability of land had played a key role, contrasting Andhra Pradesh’s efficiency with other regions where land acquisition alone could take up to a year. He added that support from the state government at both district and state levels had made a significant difference.
The project is expected to generate around 2,100 jobs, of which 1,200 to 1,400 will be permanent posts for local people. During the construction phase, employment is expected to peak between 3,000 and 5,000, with local contractors also benefiting.
Sumant Sinha said 300 to 400 of the permanent roles would be highly specialised, while the remaining workforce would be trained locally, creating sustained employment opportunities as the sector expands.
He said ReNew was also integrating artificial intelligence into its operations to improve productivity and quality. AI-based systems are being used to analyse images, detect module defects and replace manual inspection processes.
On sustainability, he said all ReNew manufacturing plants were designed with zero-liquid-discharge systems, ensuring water was treated within the plant. More than half of the project’s power requirement would be met through renewable energy.
He said there would be no gaseous or liquid emissions affecting the external environment, adding that sustainability remained central to the company’s clean energy mission.
