Speed Monitoring Boosts Justice Delivery, Says DGP
As part of efforts to strengthen women and child safety, a new Women and Child Safety Wing has been set up at Tadepalli with enhanced surveillance measures.

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh Police have implemented a comprehensive Speed Trial Monitoring system across the state to ensure swift convictions in crimes against women and children, Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta said on Saturday.
Gupta said Vizianagaram district recorded the highest number of convictions at 49, followed by the NTR Commissionerate (37), Eluru (34), SPSR Nellore (32) and Visakhapatnam (31). He said convictions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) had also been fast-tracked in East Godavari, Kakinada, Krishna and Visakhapatnam districts, particularly in POCSO and rape cases.
As part of efforts to strengthen women and child safety, a new Women and Child Safety Wing has been set up at Tadepalli with enhanced surveillance measures. Due to sustained police intervention, courts delivered convictions in 470 cases across the state between June 2024 and January 2, 2026, including 28 convictions in December 2025 alone.
Among these, six cases resulted in death sentences, 132 in life imprisonment, seven in 25-year jail terms, 103 in 20-year sentences and 56 in 10-year imprisonment. Sentences ranging from five to seven years were awarded in 65 cases, while 87 cases attracted sentences of less than five years. Punishments were also imposed in 14 cases under CCL and JCC provisions.
The DGP said 164 Shakti Teams were on round-the-clock patrol across the state, and police had provided self-defence training to 4,06,500 girl students in 12,873 schools and 1,315 colleges.
