Visakhapatnam: Andhra University’s department of fine arts has launched SPECTRUM, its annual exhibition featuring works by Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts students. Hosted at the AU Fine Arts gallery, the event highlights a blend of traditional techniques and modern innovations across various media, including oil paintings, digital art, and mixed-media installations.
More than a conventional exhibition, SPECTRUM offers an immersive journey into diverse artistic expressions. Final-year BFA student A. Harika’s work, inspired by the worn female sculptures of Ellora, reflects on unwanted touches and the lasting emotional impact on women—illustrating how personal experience shapes creative narratives.
Department head D. Simhachalam described SPECTRUM as a platform that bridges tradition and modernity, encouraging students to challenge norms and contribute to cultural discourse. The exhibition also features interactive discussions and hands-on workshops aimed at engaging the public and nurturing young talent.
