Special Drive Against Noise Pollution in Tirupati
The Tirupati traffic police have appealed for public cooperation in ensuring a noise-free environment in the temple city and stated that such drives will continue in the future.

Tirupati: A special drive was conducted across Tirupati city on Friday targeting vehicles contributing to excessive noise pollution. The drive was carried out under the instructions of district superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju and led by traffic DSP Ramakrishna Achari with the support of circle inspectors and their personnel.
As part of this drive, officials neutralised 60 modified silencers on two-wheelers and 500 high-decibel sound horns found in violation of noise norms. The SP stated that these actions were taken under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
The police removed illegally fitted high-decibel horns and silencers, and original parts were reinstated before handing the vehicles back to their owners. During the process, vehicle owners were counselled about the health and environmental hazards caused by noise pollution. According to officials, several owners acknowledged their mistakes and voluntarily surrendered the sound-modifying equipment for deactivation.
The SP urged all motorists to avoid using unauthorised sound horns and silencers, emphasising that they cause considerable inconvenience to the public and contribute to urban noise pollution. He warned that strict legal action would be taken not only against users but also against those installing such devices.
