Special Control Room Will Address Transport Portal Glitches, Says Minister

The control room will receive public complaints through phone calls and WhatsApp messages: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Transport department has set up a dedicated 24-hour control room to address technical problems faced by people while accessing services through the VAHAN and SARATHI Parivahan portals, state Transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said on Friday

The control room will receive public complaints through phone calls and WhatsApp messages. The department has provided a dedicated helpline number 92816 07001, to enable users resolve their issues related to online transport services.

The minister said the department is coordinating with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the central Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to resolve technical glitches affecting services, such as vehicle ownership transfers, driving license renewals, Aadhaar detail matching, entry of High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) details, and slow server response. He said the problem faced by applicants while selecting the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) office concerned during vehicle ownership transfers had been resolved.

Applicants, whose Aadhaar details do not match their driving license records, can upload other required documents online and apply for license renewal. Regarding vehicle fitness procedures, Ramprasad Reddy advised owners of older vehicles whose HSRP details are not reflected on the VAHAN portal to approach their respective Regional Transport Office (RTO) and get the information updated.

Vehicle owners, who need to install new HSRP plates, can contact authorised dealers of the respective vehicle manufacturers, he said.

The minister said the facility to take the learner's license test from home has been introduced on September 27 to make transport services more convenient and accessible. As of October 8, a total of 2,620 people have passed the test through this facility, while 138 candidates had failed, he stated.

Ramprasad Reddy asserted that the government is committed to making transport services simpler and more transparent. He directed officials concerned to coordinate continuously to identify and resolve technical problems and ensure that people are able to access the services without difficulty.
