SP Launches SMAA Logo, Awareness Poster To Promote Responsible Social Media Use
Addressing the gathering, the SP appreciated the initiative and said the association had been established with a public service-oriented vision focused on awareness and community engagement.

Anantapur: Anantapur superintendent of police P. Jagadeesh on Monday launched the logo and awareness poster of the Social Media Association of Anantapur (SMAA), an initiative aimed at promoting responsible and ethical use of social media platforms.
SMAA has been formed as a self-regulatory, non-commercial association under the leadership of social activist and social media influencer A.G. Anil Kumar. The organisation seeks to create awareness among content creators and page administrators on responsible content creation, compliance with cyber laws and the constructive use of digital platforms for public welfare.
Addressing the gathering, the SP appreciated the initiative and said the association had been established with a public service-oriented vision focused on awareness and community engagement.
He noted that SMAA differs from conventional organisations as it does not have designated posts such as president, secretary or treasurer, with all members functioning as volunteers working towards common objectives. He expressed confidence that the collective effort would help channel the reach of social media towards socially beneficial activities.
Nearly 20 social media page administrators from across Anantapur district attended the launch programme. Organisers said the participating pages collectively represent an audience of around 100 million followers across various digital platforms.
The association plans to conduct awareness campaigns on cyber safety, responsible social media usage, environmental conservation, civic responsibility, road safety and other public interest issues. Members also pledged to promote fact-based content, discourage misinformation and operate within the legal framework governing digital communication.
Anil Kumar thanked Jagadeesh for supporting the initiative. He also acknowledged the contribution of cyber crime inspector K. Jakeer, who attended the programme and has been involved in guiding social media stakeholders on cyber law compliance and responsible digital practices.
The initiative marks a collaborative effort by social media influencers and page administrators in the district to utilise digital platforms for public awareness and community service.
