S.P. Balasubrahmanyam Statue To Be Unveiled in Nellore on June 4
The event is expected to commemorate the life and contribution of Balasubrahmanyam, whose career spanned several decades and multiple Indian languages.
Nellore: A bronze statue of legendary playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam will be unveiled in Nellore on June 4, coinciding with his 80th birth anniversary.
The 10-foot statue has been installed at NTR Park near Annamayya Circle on the Mini Bypass Road. The site is adjacent to the statue of Tallapaka Annamacharya, whom Balasubrahmanyam greatly admired.
The statue will be unveiled at 5.30 pm by former Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of fans, music lovers and invited dignitaries.
A musical tribute programme titled ‘Swaraneerajanam’ has been planned as part of the celebrations. The event will feature music directors M.M. Keeravani and Mani Sharma, singer Mano and members of Balasubrahmanyam’s family, including S.P. Sailaja, S.P. Vasantha, S.P. Charan and S.P. Abhishek.
State ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Ponguru Narayana, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy are expected to attend the function.
Meanwhile, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, municipal commissioner Y.O. Nandan and members of the SPB statue committee inspected the venue on Saturday. The MLA directed officials to complete all arrangements for the unveiling ceremony by June 3.
