Somireddy Slams YSRC, Seeks Law Against Insulting Parents
The Governor’s speech reflected the coalition government’s performance under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting improved investor confidence and economic growth: Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy

NELLORE: Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Friday criticised the YSRC in the Assembly, accusing it of disrupting the Governor’s address and weakening institutions during its five-year rule.
He said the Governor’s speech reflected the coalition government’s performance under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting improved investor confidence and economic growth.
According to him, the state’s GSDP rose from ₹15.91 lakh crore to ₹17.62 lakh crore, with a 10.75 per cent growth rate, while per capita income increased to ₹2.95 lakh. He also cited major investments, including a ₹1.36 lakh crore Google data centre project in Visakhapatnam following meetings at Davos.
Referring to the Supreme Court remarks in the alleged ₹3,200 crore liquor scam, Somireddy said those facing serious charges should step down from public life.
He urged the government to enact a special law with non-bailable provisions against those who insult parents, stating that such behaviour must be strictly punished. He added that with the support of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and the Centre, the state is progressing well under the coalition government.
