Somireddy Questions Jagan’s Proposed Meeting With Governor
The MLA recalled that YSRC had initially alleged irregularities in the recruitment of 16,400 teachers: Reports
NELLORE: Telugu Desam MLA and former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Tuesday questioned the basis for YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s proposed meeting with AP Governor S. Abdul Nazeer. Speaking to media at the TD central office in Mangalagiri, Chandramohan Reddy alleged that YSRC activists had attacked teachers and misbehaved with officials at the office of the Sports Authority of AP (SAAP).
The MLA recalled that YSRC had initially alleged irregularities in the recruitment of 16,400 teachers, but later confined its allegations to the sports quota. In this regard, Chandramohan Reddy pointed out that of the 372 candidates recruited under the sports quota, 252 had obtained their sports certificates during the tenures of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy as chief ministers. The former minister said the NDA coalition government has filled thousands of teacher posts and is preparing to issue another DSC notification.
He questioned why no teacher recruitment had been undertaken when Jagan Mohan Reddy had been the chief minister for five years. Chandramohan Reddy alleged that the YSRC is raising allegations of irregularities in teacher recruitment to divert attention from other issues.
He pointed out that the coalition government is focusing on irrigation projects, welfare, investments, and industries, apart from government recruitment.
The MLA asked Jagan Mohan Reddy to attend sessions of the State Legislative Assembly and participate in democratic proceedings, instead of staging protests on the roads.
He declared that people would reject what he described as “false propaganda” of the YSRC. Referring to the former CM’s proposed meeting with the Governor, Somireddy said the former should also inquire about cases relating to disproportionate assets and the alleged ₹3,200-crore liquor scam
