Six Devotees Rescued Safely From Nallamala Forest

A joint search operation was immediately launched by the police and forest department personnel.

Kurnool:Six devotees who went missing after losing their way in the Nallamala forest near Ahobilam in Nandyal district were rescued safely in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The devotees, part of a group of 10 from Proddatur, had visited Ahobilam on Wednesday night to offer prayers at the Pavana Narasimha Swamy temple. While returning after darshan, six of them – five women and a man – inadvertently took a wrong route and entered the forest.

The remaining four devotees, who noticed that the six were missing, alerted the police and forest officials. A joint search operation was immediately launched by the police and forest department personnel.

Ahobilam SI Varaprasad reported that the police traced the missing devotees in the early hours of Thursday and safely returned them to Lower Ahobilam. Police and forest personnel continued the search through the night before locating them.

Locals said the devotees were fortunate to have remained safe despite spending the night in the forest, where encounters with wild animals are possible. Forest officials advised devotees visiting Ahobilam to remain alert and avoid venturing into forest areas or taking unfamiliar routes, warning that the presence of wild animals could pose a serious risk.
