Sivanath’s Efforts Paid Off As Railway Board Gives Nod For Kondapalli Station Upgrade

Sivanath took up the issue following repeated complaints from local residents: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: MP Kesineni Sivanath’s persistent efforts to address infrastructure deficiencies at Kondapalli Railway Station have paid off, with the South-Central Railway (SCR) approving the expansion and elevation of the platforms.

SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava sanctioned the proposal under the South-Central Railway Umbrella Works 2024–25. The approval was formally conveyed to MP Sivanath through an official communication, confirming that construction work will commence shortly.

Additionally, the railway administration has agreed to consider Kondapalli Railway Station for development under the Amrit Station Scheme in its next phase, paving the way for comprehensive modernisation of the facility.

For years, passengers at Kondapalli have faced safety concerns due to inadequate platform infrastructure. The station currently has a 366-metre platform, of which only 136 metres is high-level, while the remaining 230 metres remains low-level, making boarding and alighting unsafe and inconvenient.

Sivanath took up the issue following repeated complaints from local residents. On June 3, he conducted a detailed inspection of the station along with Mailavaram MLA Vasanta Krishna Prasad.

Subsequently, on August 22, the MP met general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, and submitted a formal proposal seeking modernisation of Kondapalli station under the Amrit Bharat 2.0 scheme, emphasising the need for platform expansion to ensure safer passenger access.

Following the approval, MP Kesineni Sivanath expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for their support in expediting the project’s clearance.
