SIT Detains Varun Purushotham in AP Liquor Scam

Vijayawada: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken Varun Purushotham into custody for further investigation in connection with the alleged liquor scam that took place during the previous YSRC government. Varun, named as one of the key accused in the case, was detained by officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport upon his return from Dubai.
A non-bailable warrant had been earlier issued against Varun by a Vijayawada court. According to sources, Varun confessed to his involvement in the scam, leading the police to a massive cash haul. Based on his statement, authorities recovered ₹11 crore in cash from a farmhouse located on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The cash has since been transported to Vijayawada.
Police have now intensified their investigation into the case.
