SIR: AP Completes Hearing In 99.9% Of 44.27 Lakh Applications

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh state election authority has completed hearings for 44.27 lakh out of a total 44.28 lakh notices it issued in the SIR process. This forms 99.96% of the applications for re-inclusion in the voters list.
Only 1,665 notices are still left for hearing as part of the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the state.
According to the data available with the office of the chief electoral officer, Tirupati has 1,554 notices pending hearing; followed by Prakasam-48, Anantapur-43, NTR-11, Krishna-8 and Guntur-1.
As the Election Commission has scheduled the last date for final publication of electoral rolls on October 9, the state election authorities are attempting to complete the exercise as early as possible, so as to have the final publication of electoral rolls as per schedule.
Meanwhile, out of the 3.27 crore other category electors targeted to be parked for final publication in the electoral rolls, the election authorities completed the targeted number of electors except for 333 electors from districts like Guntur, Eluru, Nandyal, Prakasam and YSR. The whole exercise is expected to be completed by Wednesday.
With regard to the status on claims and objections, under Form-6 meant for registration of new voters in the electoral rolls, 69,184 applications are pending out of a total of 4,04,165 applications received. Of these, districts where the hearing is pending are Tirupati-12,566; Nellore-8,799; YSR-7,824, Prakasam-6,329 and Satya Sai-4,844.
Under Form-6A meant for registration of NRIs as overseas voters in the electoral rolls, 813 applications are pending out of a total of 369 applications received.
Under Form-7, which is used to raise objections to the proposed inclusion or deletion of names from the electoral rolls, a total 64,889 applications have been received so far. Of these, 8,478 are pending.
As for Form-8 meant for corrections, replacement of damaged or lost voter ID cards, shifting of residence and other modifications, 31,693 applications are pending out of a total 2,40,392 applications received.
With regard to photo quality check by the booth level officers, out of a total 3.71 crore electors, so far 3.70 lakh crore electors photo quality was checked; with the pending of only 40,000 electors (0.11%) at present.
Districts like Anantapur, Nellore, Tirupati, NTR and Prakasam needed improvement in their efforts to complete the task.
