SIR: 4.10 Lakh Applications Awaiting Clearance in AP on Last Day
Under Form-7 to raise objections to proposed inclusion or seeking deletion of existing names, out of the 57,019 applications received, 9,387 were pending.
Vijayawada:On Thursday, the last day of submission of claims and objections, nearly 4.10 lakh applications received under forms-6, 7 and 8 were pending clearance in Andhra Pradesh by evening.
The Election Commission that has taken up the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls had revised the last date for submission of claims and objections to September 10.
The office of chief electoral officer has come up with the latest status on clearing of applications. Accordingly, under Form 6, meant for new voter registration, some 3.77 lakh applications were received, of which 2.52 lakh are pending with districts like YSR-23,910; Nellore-20,934; Tirupati-13,798; Prakasam-13,600 and Nandyal-12,154.

Under Form-8 for corrections and replacement of damaged or lost voter ID, shifting of residence and other modifications, out of the total 2.25 lakh applications received, 1.49 lakh were pending.
Officials said the number of pending applications under Form 6,7 and 8 may come down once the latest data on the last day on Thursday was added. But, as more applications were pending clearance, the job remains tough.
On the other hand, with regard to the status of hearing of notices served as on Thursday, out of the 44.28 lakh notices served, hearing was held for 40.36 lakh notices while 3.92 lakh notices were pending for hearing. This comes to 8.86 per cent.
Districts like Alluri Sitarama Raju, Kurnool, Chittoor, West Godavari, Markapuram and Nandyal did well in completion of hearings while Palnadu, Anantapur, Tirupati, YSR and Annamayya lagged.
On the status of other category electors parked for final publication in the electoral rolls, out of the 3.27 crore electors, 1.93 crore electors were parked for inclusion in the final rolls while the inclusion of 1.34 crore electors was pending. This came to 40.99 per cent.
Districts like Bapatla, Chittoor, YSR, Kurnool, Satya Sai and Nandyal fared well while the Dr BR Konaseema, Guntur, NTR, Nellore, Srikakulam and Markapuram districts showed poor performance.
The election authorities have identified 20 assembly constituencies having the highest pending for hearings; and they are: Anantapur Urban-27,367; Badvel-6,550; Tirupati-21,355; Mummidivaram-1,683; Amalapuram-2,916; Chandragiri-19,662; Vinukonda-5,136; Kamalapuram-4,819; Chilakaluripeta-6,274; Kandukur-4,319; Mydukur-3,607; Rayachoti-6,808; Kalyandurg-5,370; Gudur-6,737; Rajampet-7,838; Thambalapalle-4,736; Sattenapalle-7,558; Udayagiri-4,118; Tadipatri-9,545 and Gurajala-7,778.
As for the photo quality check conducted by the BLOs, out of the 2.83 crore photos updated and approved, nearly 40.38 per cent was pending. Similarly, as for the photo quality check conducted by the ERO, out of 1.68 crore photos approved by the BLOs, only 41.49 lakh were approved with pendency at 75.43 per cent.
It’s unclear whether the EC would re-revise the last date for submission of claims and objections in view of the existing backlogs.
