Single-Use Plastic Banned In AP Secretariat From August 15
Accordingly, AP government has started taking steps on banning single-use plastic, starting with its ban in the state secretariat from August 15.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief secretary (CS) K. Vijayanand announced that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has set the goal to make Andhra Pradesh a single-use plastic-free state by June 5, 2026, the World Environment Day.
Accordingly, AP government has started taking steps on banning single-use plastic, starting with its ban in the state secretariat from August 15.
In this regard, the CS released a banner "Say No to Single-Use Plastic" at the secretariat on Tuesday.
Vijayanand met secretaries of various departments at the secretariat and discussed extensively steps to be taken to completely ban the use of single-use plastic in AP secretariat from August 15. He directed CRDA, MEPMA, Swachhandra and Swarnandhra departments to work in coordination to ensure successful implementation of the single-use plastic ban in the secretariat from the Independence Day on Friday.
The CS made it clear to officers and employees of all departments that they must use only tumblers made of glass and stainless steel bottles for drinking water in the AP secretariat from August 18.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development principal secretary S. Suresh Kumar made a PowerPoint presentation on alternative arrangements they have been making for the last one-and-a-half months towards banning single-use plastic. He pointed out that four RO plants and 32 bottle dispensing points have already been set up in the state secretariat. They will be fully functional from next Saturday.
Suresh Kumar said 750 ml glass or stainless steel bottles will be made available to every officer and employee working in the AP secretariat. They will have to collect their drinking water in these bottles whenever they feel a need.
