660 Students Honoured With Shining Stars Awards In 3 Districts
Shining Stars-2026 programme is aimed at encouraging talent and hoped that Tirupati district would stand an ideal for the state
TIRUPATI: Over 660 students from Tirupati, Chittoor and Annamayya districts who excelled in the Class X and Intermediate public examinations were honoured with the Shining Stars-2026 awards at separate functions on Monday.
The award-winners received medals, certificates of appreciation and a cash incentive of ` 20,000 each in recognition of their academic performance.
In Tirupati, 258 students were felicitated at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam in the presence of district in-charge minister Anagani Satya Prasad and district collector Venkateswar.
The minister said the initiative aimed at recognising meritorious students and motivating them to pursue higher goals. The government was strengthening the education sector through measures such as distribution of student kits, improvement of midday meals and recruitment of teachers.
The collector advised parents not to compare their children with others and said marks alone should not define success. He urged students to develop confidence, discipline, leadership qualities and extracurricular skills along with academic excellence.
In Chittoor, 202 students received the awards at a function attended by district collector Sumit Kumar and MLAs Murali Mohan and Jagan Mohan.
The collector said government schools had capable teachers, improved infrastructure and equal opportunities for students to excel. He urged education officials to further improve learning outcomes and expressed confidence that more students from government schools would receive the awards in future.
The MLAs said the recognition would encourage students to strive for higher achievements and make the best use of educational opportunities.
In Annamayya district, 200 students were honoured at Madanapalle in the presence of district in-charge minister Janardhan Reddy and district collector Nishant.
The minister urged students to dream big, think differently and work hard to achieve their goals, assuring them of the government's continued support.
Several award recipients shared their aspirations. Manasa from Piler mandal said she hoped to become an IAS officer and fulfil her father's dream. Sai Vennela from B Kothakota said she too aspired to join the civil services, while Intermediate student K Tasmia said the cash incentive would help her pursue higher studies and realise her ambition of becoming a drug inspector.
